Founded in 1992, Boland Bonsai Kai has grown from a small group of enthusiasts into a respected club known for its strong leadership, long-standing member involvement and close ties to the Stellenbosch University Botanical Garden and the Western Cape Bonsai Heritage Collection. Our members work across a wide range of species and styles, with an increasing emphasis on indigenous trees and locally relevant bonsai practice.

We meet monthly to learn, share and refine our skills through tree critiques, demonstrations and discussion. In addition to formal meetings, members take part in practical workshops hosted at private homes, where trees are worked on in a supportive, hands-on environment. The club regularly exhibits at regional and national events and has a proud tradition of hosting and participating in major bonsai shows.

Membership offers the opportunity to learn from experienced growers, receive constructive feedback on your trees and develop your skills at your own pace.
